Sir Adrian is the Chairman of the UK Committee on the Financial Aspects of
Corporate Governance which published its Report and Code of Best Practice in
December 1992. In 2005, he received the Laureate Medal for Corporate
Governance. His publications include: The Company Chairman 1990, and
Corporate Governance and Chairmanship Ð AÊPersonal View, published by Oxford
University Press in October 2002 and translated into Japanese, Chinese and
Italian.

Ms. Nelmara Arbex
Nelmara Arbex joined the GRI Secretariat in July 2006 as Director for Learning and Services. She is responsible for developing the program and content for the inaugural learning services that support reporters and report users in their use of the GRI Guidelines. This also involves running the certification program. Nelmara joined GRI with a wealth of experience in corporate responsibility and sustainable development. For Natura Cosmetics in Brazil she developed and implemented a management system for corporate responsibility; lead participatory processes of sustainable development planning with communities; implemented national social and environmental campaigns, and was also responsible for the company’s internal sustainability program for managers.Nelmara also collaborated and co-authored several publications, including books, manuals and other research papers, and coordinated learning activities such as a CSR course at FGV Business School.
Michael Schluter, Relationships Foundation, United Kingdom
Michael trained as an economist before working as a consultant with the International Food Policy Research Institute and the World Bank in East Africa. He is now a leading campaigner and social reformer. In 1982 he established the Jubilee Centre, a Christian think tank focusing on social and economic issues. In 1994, Michael launched Relationships Foundation, and through this has been instrumental in setting up Citylife and the charities Equity for Africa and Concordis International.
He is co-author of The R Factor and The R Option and has contributed to a number of other books looking at social issues from a relational perspective. In February 2009 Michael was appointed Commander of the British Empire for his charitable efforts.
Prof. Mervyn King, Brait, South Africa

Mervyn King is a Senior Counsel and former Judge of the Supreme Court of South Africa, Professor Extraordinaire at the University of South Africa on Corporate Citizenship, has an honorary Doctor of Laws from the University of the Witwatersrand, is Chairman of the King Committee on Corporate Governance in South Africa, President of the Advertising Standards Authority, First Vice President of the Institute of Directors Southern Africa, a member of the Securities Regulation Panel and Chairman of the Appeal Committee of the United Cricket Board of South Africa. He is Chairman of the Global Reporting Initiative in Amsterdam, a member of the Private Sector Advisory Group to the World Bank on Corporate Governance, is Chairman of the Asian Centre of Corporate Governance and Chairman of the United Nations Committee on Governance and Oversight. He is presently the Chairman of Strate in South Africa, is a director of JD Group and is Chairman of Brait Soci Anonyme.
Chris Gibbons, MC for the Conference
Chris is a successful journalist and broadcaster, as well as an experienced businessman and entrepreneur. Currently he anchors The Mid Day Report, a hard-hitting news, current affairs and business show, simulcast on Gauteng's Talk Radio 702 and the Western Cape's 567 Cape Talk. He also writes and presents AM Stock Take, a daily podcast, previewing the days activities on JSE, for Fin24.com. On the print side of his desk, Chris edits Directorship, the prestigious quarterly magazine of the Institute of Directors. He also writes for the Journal of Marketing and JSE magazine. With an MA from Cambridge, Chris also holds an MBA from Henley, one of the UK's leading business schools.
Mr. Peter Y. Solmssen
General Counsel and Member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG since October 2007.
In addition to his role as General Counsel he is responsible for the Americas Region.
Prior to joining Siemens, Mr. Solmssen was for five years Executive Vice President and General Counsel of GE Healthcare, one of the six operating units of General Electric Company, based in Chalfont St Giles, UK. He joined GE in 1998 as Vice President and General Counsel of GE Plastics in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. From 1989-1998 Mr. Solmssen was a senior partner in law firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP specializing in M&A and securities law. Mr. Solmssen received his JD, cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was Articles Editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review and his AB magna cum laude from Harvard University. He also studied law at Brasenose College, Oxford University, UK, on a Knox Fellowship.
Janine Hills, Founder & CEO, Vuma Reputation Management

on the boards for the Kaizer Chiefs, Ster-Kinekor Home Entertainment and
Ster-Kinekor Licensing. Janine has also worked for FNB and was a founding

Mohamed Adam
Mohamed Adam is a lawyer. He obtained his BA law degree at the University of Durban-Westville and his LLB at the University of the Witwatersrand. He also has an LLM in International Trade Law from the University of Essex in the UK.
He practised as an attorney before joining Eskom as a legal adviser in 1991. Since then he has held several positions in Eskom in a professional and management role, including that of Secretary to the then Electricity Council, Group International Manager and, more recently, head of the Legal and Secretariat Department.At present he is Eskom's Corporate Counsel and Senior General Manager (Regulatory Affairs). He was Eskom's first company secretary upon its conversion into a companyHe is the co-author of the book Power of Governance: Enhancing the Performance of State-Owned Enterprises. He is a member of the King Committee on Corporate Governance and was a member of the Task Team on Integrated Sustainability Reporting in the King II Report on Corporate Governance in South Africa in 2002 and is a member of the same Task Team for the latest version of the King Report (King III). He is married to Felicity and has two sons Ziyaad born in 1984 and Mikaeel born in 1988.

Suresh Kana is the Territory Senior Partner and Chief Executive Officer of PricewaterhouseCoopers Southern Africa and the appointed Africa Senior Partner for PricewaterhouseCoopers internationally. He is a member of the King Committee on Corporate Governance in South Africa and convenor of its Accounting and Auditing Task Force, is a member of the Independent Regulatory Board of Auditors Board of Directors and Audit Committee. He is a Professor at the University of Johannesburg, and honorary professor at the Centre of Accounting at the University of the Free State. He is the co-author, with Professor Geoff Everingham, of Corporate Reporting, now in its 7th edition. He was consulting editor on The Principles and Practice of Auditing, a textbook by Puttick and van Esch. Suresh has also served as the Chairman of the Committee for Auditing at the Independent Regulatory Board of Auditors and of the body that preceded it, the Audit and Assurance Standards Board. He was a Board member of the Accounting Standards Board from 2003 to 2005 as well as being a South African Board member of the International Audit and Assurance Standards Board of the International Federation of Accountants from 1995 to 2003. He has also served on the Boards of Appeal for the Financial Services Board Act, Stock Exchanges Control Act and the Financial Markets Control Act. In addition, he was a member of the GAAP Monitoring Panel from its inception until the end of 2005.
